This is not meant as a rant, but, in the same category as the buns/hot dogs, I wonder why recipes that list ingredients don't list ingredients that are actually available. I was in the mood to make clam chowder, which is not one of those recipes I carry in my head like how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. So I found what looks like a good, not-so-difficult recipe that called for one 6.5-ounce can of clams. And naturally, my grocer, and the supermarket that is not exactly my grocer, and the other one a little further away, only carry clams in 5-ounce cans.
Idaho is not exactly seafood central, so I don't expect stores to carry a vast array of canned seafood parts. But ... You see where I'm going with this, right?
